AMSA

amsa_logo1The Arctic Marine Shipping Assessment (AMSA) is circumpolar in focus and promotes cooperation and collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders and relevant organizations. The assessment should cover all ship based activities and ship types in the Arctic.

Arctic Hydra

Arctic_Hydra_logoThe Arctic-HYDRA project consists of a core network for the observation of the Arctic Hydrological Cycle. Impacts of a warming Arctic are already raising serious concerns about the stability of the sensitive balance between climate conditions, freshwater input, oceanic circulation and the state of cryospheric components.

Arctic Peoples

Arcticpeoples_MThe Arctic Council Indigenous Peoples’ Secretariat is a support Secretariat for the International Indigenous Peoples’ Organisationsthat are Permanent Participants to the Arctic Council . IPS does not speak for the Permanent Participants. Instead, it createsopportunities for the Indigenous Peoples’ Organisations to speak forthemselves, and helps provide them with necessary information and materials.

IPS work includes: Ensuring that Permanent Participants are sent documents and reports connected to the work of the Arctic Council and its working groups. Helping Permanent Participants to present their views to the Arctic Council and its Working Groups. Collecting and communicating information about the Arctic Council and its results to the Indigenous Peoples in the various parts of the Arctic. Providing co-ordination for the Indigenous Peoples’ Organisations to meet with each other, and to participate in the Arctic CouncilWorking Groups.

ealtEALÁT is a Reindeer Herders Vulnerability Network Study and is a project that examines reindeer pastoralism in the light of climate change, in particular, on the integration of reindeer herders' knowledge in the study and analysis of their ability to adapt to environmental variability and change.

ICR

ICR_randompics13_MThe International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry (ICR) was established by the Norwegian Government in 2005 in Kautokeino, as a contribution to the unique international cooperation of circumpolar reindeer herding peoples. ICR is an independent professional unit, with its own board and budget. Its activity is funded by the Norwegian Government through annual grants from the budgets of the Ministry of Labor and Social Inclusion, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Kuuvik river Expedition

The main objective of the International Polar Year 2007 Kuuvik River Expedition was to canoe the Kuuvik River in northern Quebec, traversing a remote Arctic territory between Hudson Bay and Ungava Bay, as an expedition of four paddlers using two wood-canvas heritage canoes, along a classic Canadian Crown geographical exploration route that was mapped in 1896 by the geoscientist A.P. Low.

PAG

Organized under the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC), the PAG has as its mission to serve as a Pacific Arctic regional partnership to plan, coordinate, and collaborate on science activities of mutual interest. The four PAG principle science themes are climate, contaminants, human dimensions and structure and function of Arctic ecosystems.
